If I Ruled The World ...
I really enjoyed the discussion group last night, despite being called "Middle Classed". There's nothing wrong with correcting punctuation in a text message or sending thank you letters, or even Terry Wogan!!
We discussed last night that leadership at local and even national or world level could start with us, if we believe and care passionately enough. (Keeley, I expect to see you debating in the House of Commons one day!!) Do you think it's possible or just wishful thinking?
I'm also interested to see what people think makes up a "good person" and what difference is there between a good person and a Christian? Are all Christians good people?...

i think that because of the rules that are involved in being a Christian most are good people, as the 'rules' involved should lead them onto a path that makes them a good person. However i don’t think that all Christians are good people, and some of them hide behind the Christian image to give them an image of being a good person when really they go against their faith in their actions.
the difference between a good person and a Christian to me is that good people do good things but do not follow the faith, and i feel this does not make them less off a good person, they may just have reasons to doubt the existence of God.
i agree with sarah, for example the president of USA classes himself as a christian but i think most people will agree he is not really a good person. But like Sarah says he could be hiding behind his faith to make appear as if he is a nice person when he isnt. You can be a good person without believeing God as long as you abide by certain rules and personal morales i think you can make it.
is this discussion open for all-comers? If so, Keeley - who and how do we decide what the 'certain rules and personal morals' are?
All Christians are good people.
All Muslims are good people.
All Jews are good people. ETC.
Well, if they actualy follow what that their religion puts foward!
To me, George Bush is not a Christian, he may say he is but i don't believe he is. Christianity does not glorify mass genocide around the world!
To me Osama Bin Laden is not a Muslim, he may say he is but Islam does not glorify terrorism.
I would love the world to be ruled by a Christian. As long as they are a devout Christian. Im imagining it right now! Gods Kingdom finally brought to life!
well nick good question and i think if everybody rules and morals were the same then we whould have aload of sheep walking around. So i think everybodys rules will be slightly different but they will be common sense like for example killing somebody wolud make you a bad person so to be a good person you would not kill any body lol
hi every1
I see what you mean, Keeley, but what about the rules such as "Love your neighbour as yourself"? I don't find it too hard to not kill someone (however tempted I might be from time to time!LOL) but loving everyone, well that's far more difficult. I can't even try to do that without God's help.
I think one of the important things to come out of this discussion is authenticity, being real. If you say you are a Christian, then people need to see you living that out in every day life. Like Sarah said, hiding behind an image but going against their faith is the kind of hypocrisy that people have had enough of.
Hello, Nick, Josh and Croast. Glad you could join the party. Censorship is the next topic on the agenda! Please send me any items for the next blog so that I can vet them before posting (only joking, honestly Keeley!!LOL)
You may have noticed that LOL is going to make it into every comment I leave, now I know it doesn't mean "lots of love"!!
hello again
if i ruled the world no one would know
